Olivia Jones is a native of Huntsville, AL and has lived in Eufaula, AL for the last twelve years. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 2011 with a degree in Secondary English Education. After teaching at Eufaula High School for five years, Olivia decided to further her education and, in 2019, graduated from Faulkner Law School. While awaiting her results from the Alabama State Bar Exam, Oliva was drawn back to teaching at Eufaula High School where the skills she learned applying for law school found a new application, test prep. This is best described in her own words:
“I was not a good test taker in high school. My ACT score wasn’t what I wanted it to be. It was enough to get me into the University of Alabama, but not enough to get any scholarships. Later, I decided to go to law school and began taking practice tests. I didn’t score too well on these either. I knew that I had to increase my score in order to be admitted, so I did my research and began studying both skill and strategy-based instruction. I climbed to nearly the 80th percentile. In about two months time, I went from barely being able to get in, to receiving a 75% scholarship valued at over $100,000. This opened doors for me and boosted my confidence. I prepared for the Bar exam in much the same way that I prepared for the LSAT and passed it on the first try. When I returned to education, I was inspired to create a program that mirrored what my studies for the LSAT and the Bar exam taught me.”
For five years, Olivia has been working with students, building their confidence, alleviating their test anxiety, and instructing them on how to study more strategically. Out of her experience and a desire to reach more students, Impact Tutoring Services was born.
Olivia was featured on the Test and the Rest podcast, hosted by National Test Prep Association board members Amy Seeley and Mike Bergin. Hear from Olivia in her own words by clicking the link below:
